Inconvenient Hype
Al Gore's movie is full of nonsense!
I can't help it. The hype surrounding this abomination
requires it's own friggin' page! According to Big Al, we only have ten
years before global warming becomes irreversible. He is just parroting
the high profile professor of doom and gloom, Dr.
James E. Hansen of Colombia University. Hansen has spent a lot of
time whining to the media that the Bush Administration is preventing
him from talking to the media. He didn't seem to have any trouble getting
on 60
minutes or NPR.
And since when do 1,400
media interviews = Muzzled? Every time Hansen opens his yap it's
to cry foul. As far back as 1971 Hansen
has no problem appearing in the media--except that back then he was
warning of a "New Ice Age." That's right, the same James
Hansen that gave Al Gore the exaggerated 20-foot seal level rise (although
even the IPCC warns of only 17-23 inches) for his ridiculous movie,
appeared in the Washington Post in 1971. Here are some more of Hansen's
escapades...
The
Incredible James Hansen - By Bill Steigerwald - If you've paid any
attention to the global warming debate, you've heard of James Hansen.
Hansen is the politicized NASA climate scientist who virtually invented
the global warming issue in the broiling summer of 1988 when he was
the star doomsayer at Senate hearings called by Al Gore.
Since then, Hansen has received better press than Mother Teresa. In
hundreds of interviews and glowing profiles, the head of NASA's Goddard
Institute for Space Studies has been treated as objective and/or infallible
by an adoring mainstream liberal media.
Yet Hansen's not even close to being an objective scientist. He is openly
ideological and rabidly partisan. His political pals and financial patrons
are liberal Democrats -- Gore, John Kerry and left-wing groups funded
by George Soros and Teresa Heinz... (10/03/07)

NASA's Hansen Claims He's Being 'Swift-boated' by Critics - By Noel
Sheppard - A fascinating new liberal defense mechanism has arisen in
the past couple of years: Whenever you want to dodge criticism, just
claim you are being swift-boated.
In fact, this has become such a part of political parlance that Microsoft
Word now recognizes the term "swift-boated" without highlighting
it as errant. Isn't that special?
With that in mind, the head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies,
James Hansen, is claiming that recent accusations made about him - that
he was involved in a GISS report in 1971 predicting an ice age, and
that he received money from multi-billionaire George Soros - are nothing
more than swift-boating by his critics...(09/29/07)
Global
Warming: Swift Boating - In my post, "Follow the Money"
I point out that the campaign for Global Warming was paid for in large
measure by George Soros' money groups. For Global Warming activist James
Hansen, that figure is about $720-thousand.
In "Oregon's Energy Policy: It's About Shoes & Stuff"
I point out that our state governor's approach to Global Warming as
evidenced by his Climate Change Group was flawed.
But the criticism remains. The Global Warming hoax has an agenda. And
while complaining about reports on his funding sources--he refers to
those who criticize him as "swift-boaters and contrarians"--he
actually lets you take a peek at the economic agenda driving the Global
Warming Hoax... (09/29/07)

NASA's Hansen Mentioned in Soros Foundations Annual Report - By
Noel Sheppard - As NewsBuster Jake Gontesky reported,
an editorial in Investor's Business Daily Monday claimed one of billionaire
leftist George Soros's foundations gave $720,000 in 2006 to the head
of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, James Hansen.
Since this editorial was published, according to LexisNexis and Google
News searches, not one major media outlet has reported these allegations.
Maybe even more shocking is that had press outlets looked into this
matter - you know, acted like journalists instead of advocates! - they
would have found Hansen's name prominently mentioned in the 2006
Soros Foundations Network Report (relevant section on page 123):
Scientist Protests NASA's Censorship Attempts -
James E. Hansen, the director of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies
at NASA, protested attempts to silence him after officials at NASA ordered
him to refer press inquiries to the public affairs office and required
the presence of a public affairs representative at any interview. The
Government Accountability Project, a whistleblower protection organization
and OSI grantee, came to Hansen's defense by providing legal and media
advice. The campaign on Hansen's behalf resulted in a decision by
NASA to revisit its media policy.
Fascinating, wouldn't you agree?
Here, in Soros Foundations' annual report, is a direct connection to
Hansen, along with an admission that "The campaign on Hansen's
behalf resulted in a decision by NASA to revisit its media policy."
As is typical, a global warming obsessed media don't find this newsworthy.
Think they'd be so disinterested if this smoking gun involved an oil
company giving money to a Republican official?
While you ponder, forward to page 143 (emphasis added):
note: The Strategic Opportunities Fund includes grants related to
Hurricane Katrina ($1,652,841); media policy ($1,060,000); and politicization
of science ($720,000).
Add it all up, and everything the IBD editorial claimed - that a high-ranking
official at NASA may have received money from an organization funded
by George Soros in order to politicize science -- is actually available
in this annual report.
Yet, not one media outlet thought this was newsworthy.
How disgraceful. (09/26/07)
The Real James "Hack" Hansen
Newsbusters:
Is Global Warming Alarmist James Hansen a Shill for George Soros?
- By Jake Gontesky - The claims against anthropogenic global warming
skeptics are often the same: they're all shills for big oil or other
industry wishing to poke holes in the 'consensus theory' of global warming
(which isn't a consensus at all). Under the so-called "politicization
of science" program, George Soros' (the favorite fundraiser of
many democrats) has reportedly given as much as $720,000 to Hansen to
help package his alarmist claims and get them pushed by the mainstream
media (The
Soros Threat to Democracy):
How many people, for instance, know that James Hansen, a man billed
as a lonely "NASA whistleblower" standing up to the mighty
U.S. government, was really funded by Soros' Open Society Institute
, which gave him "legal and media advice"?
That's right, Hansen was packaged for the media by Soros' flagship
"philanthropy," by as much as $720,000, most likely under
the OSI's "politicization of science" program.
So he got some big paychecks from Soros - but was there a quid pro
quo? The evidence certainly indicates as much:
That may have meant that Hansen had media flacks help him get on
the evening news to push his agenda and lawyers pressuring officials
to let him spout his supposedly "censored" spiel for weeks
in the name of advancing the global warming agenda.
Hansen even succeeded, with public pressure from his nightly news
performances, in forcing NASA to change its media policies to his advantage.
Had Hansen's OSI-funding been known, the public might have viewed the
whole production differently. The outcome could have been different.
Did Soros' funding pay off? You be the judge. Do a quick google search
on James Hansen to read any of the thousands of mainstream media stories
touting Hansen's claims of censorship by the Bush administration. This
wouldn't be the first time credibility questions have been raised regarding
Hansen and his alarmist claims [see "When
does 1,400 Media Interviews = Muzzled" (03/20/07)].
But the alarmist's favorite poster-boy James Hansen is hardly the only
benefactor of Soros' funding designed to get more media play for politicized
topics important to the left - check out the full article for more on
the non-disclosure disclosures regarding immigration and other big topics
of the day.

The
Soros Threat To Democracy - By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY - Democracy:
George Soros is known for funding groups such as MoveOn.org that seek
to manipulate public opinion. So why is the billionaire's backing of
what he believes in problematic? In a word: transparency.

How many people, for instance, know that James Hansen, a man billed
as a lonely "NASA whistleblower" standing up to the mighty
U.S. government, was really funded by Soros' Open Society Institute

in forcing NASA to change its media policies to his advantage. Had Hansen's
OSI-funding been known, the public might have viewed the whole production
differently. The outcome could have been different.
That's not the only case. Didn't the mainstream media report that 2006's
vast immigration rallies across the country began as a spontaneous uprising
of 2 million angry Mexican-flag waving illegal immigrants demanding
U.S. citizenship in Los Angeles, egged on only by a local Spanish-language
radio announcer?
Turns out that wasn't what happened, either. Soros' OSI had money-muscle
there, too, through its $17 million Justice Fund. The fund lists 19
projects in 2006. One was vaguely described involvement in the immigration
rallies. Another project funded illegal immigrant activist groups for
subsequent court cases.
So what looked like a wildfire grassroots movement really was a manipulation
from OSI's glassy Manhattan offices. The public had no way of knowing
until the release of OSI's 2006 annual report... (09/24/07)
A re-hash, but well worth the reminder that
James Hansen, (Al Gore's mentor) is nothing but an environmental hack.
Global
Warming Scientist Once Warned Of 'Ice Age' - By Doug Ware, KUTV.com
- (KUTV) WASHINGTON - A NASA scientist, who is now sounding the alarm
over global warming's threat to the planet, once believed that pumping
too many greenhouse gases into the air would have the opposite effect
-- a modern day ice age.
James Hansen is currently among scientists who believe that carbon dioxide
emissions are warming the planet's atmosphere -- posing a grave threat
to the environment and humans' ability to adapt to it. Many others --
like public preachers Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio -- share the same
view in what seems to be the "hot button" issue of the moment.
But 36-years ago, it appears, Hansen had a completely different warning
-- in what may be the scientific equivalent of a grandiose political
'flip-flop.'
In a Washington Post story dated July 9, 1971, Hansen -- then a research
associate at Columbia University -- warned of a modern day ice age,
which would cause the planet's temperature to plummet as many as six
degrees.
The reason, he said then, was a fine dust emitted into the air via carbon
dioxide pollution that would eventually become so dense that it would
block sunlight and result in cooler temperatures -- a scenario exactly
the opposite of what leading climatologists say is happening now, that
greenhouse gases are trapping heat inside the Earth's atmosphere.
Hansen and one of his research partners believed that the problem was
so severe that the "ice age" could happen between five and
ten years after the report -- putting the prediction for extreme global
cooling between about 1976 and 1981.
It didn't happen.
Now a scientist for NASA, Hansen is facing criticism by some for an
immense change of heart. How could he have predicted something so importunate
at the time -- only to make a 180-degree turn 35-years later, and completely
head in the opposite direction?
In fact, the 1971 report even claims that Hansen and his associate dismissed
the idea of global warming.
"They found no need to worry about the carbon dioxide that fuel-burning
puts in the atmosphere," the Washington Post report. (09/23/07)

Questionable Global Warming Data Hijinks - By Steve Verdon - Steve

Cold
yet? - NASA scientist James E. Hansen, who has publicly criticized
the Bush administration for dragging its feet on climate change and
labeled skeptics of man-made global warming as distracting "court
jesters," appears in a 1971 Washington Post article that warns
of an impending ice age within 50 years. "U.S. Scientist Sees New
Ice Age Coming," blares the headline of the July 9, 1971, article,
which cautions readers that the world "could be as little as 50
or 60 years away from a disastrous new ice age, a leading atmospheric
scientist predicts." The scientist was S.I. Rasool, a colleague
of Mr. Hansen's at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
The article goes on to say that Mr. Rasool came to his chilling conclusions
by resorting in part to a new computer program developed by Mr. Hansen
that studied clouds above Venus. The 1971 article, discovered this week
by Washington resident John Lockwood while he was conducting related
research at the Library of Congress, says that "in the next 50
years" - or by 2021 - fossil-fuel dust injected by man into the
atmosphere "could screen out so much sunlight that the average
temperature could drop by six degrees," resulting in a buildup
of "new glaciers that could eventually cover huge areas."
If sustained over "several years, five to 10," or so Mr. Rasool
estimated, "such a temperature decrease could be sufficient to
trigger an ice age." Post staff writer Victor Cohn penned the story
about the article, which appeared that same day in the journal Science.
For his part, Mr. Cohn contacted Gordon F. MacDonald, a top scientist
in the Nixon administration, who considered Mr. Rasool a "first-rate
atmospheric physicist" whose findings are "consistent with
estimates I and others have made." Who to believe? (09/19/07)

Al
Gore, James Hansen, and Civil Disobedience - By Gordon Clark - In
his recent global warming op-ed in the New York Times ("The Big
Melt," August 16, 2007) , Nicholas Kristof reported on a conversation
with Al Gore in which the former Vice-President said: "I can't
understand why there aren't rings of young people blocking bulldozers,
and preventing them from constructing coal-fired power plants."
His comment was a reaction to the ever- quickening pace of polar ice
meltoff, with all its catastrophic implications, and the huge role played
by coal-fired power plants in advancing our demise through global warming.
Gore's comment was also strikingly similar to a recent quote from Dr.
James Hansen, the top climate scientist at NASA: "It seems to me
that young people, especially, should be doing whatever is necessary
to block construction of dirty (no CCS) coal-fired power plants."

Global
Warming and James Hansen's Hacks - By Michael Fumento - If you follow
the global warming debate, you "know" that nine of the ten
warmest years recorded in the U.S. lower 48 since 1880 have occurred
since 1995, with the very hottest being 1998. But whaddya know! Those
figures are wrong. Data from NASA's Goddard
Institute for Space Studies (GISS) now show the hottest year since
1880 was 1934. Nineteen-ninety-eight dropped to second, while the third
hottest year was way back in 1921. Indeed, four of the 10 hottest years
were in the 1930s, while only three were in the past decade. (08/16/07)

vastly different and warmer place. (05/04/07)
James
Hansen on scientific reticence - A preprint on the arXiv - physics/0703220
(PDF)
was written by Rev. James Hansen, the vice-prophet of the Anthropogenic
Global Warming (AGW) denomination. He proves that the sea levels will
rise more than 6 times (and probably 20 times) faster in the 21st century
than they did in the last 50 years. His proof is based on the concept
of "scientific reticence" which is an improved version of
"scientific consensus". While the consensus method allows
one to prove numbers that many people who haven't looked at it carefully
- but who voted for the same politicians - agree with even though they
don't have any evidence, "scientific reticence" is much better
because it allows a scientist to prove numbers that are about 30 times
higher than the numbers obtained by the method of the "scientific
consensus". The reticence method is thus clearly superior. How
does it work? In the context of the sea levels, the existence of reticence
is proven by Rev. Hansen's story from California. A lawyer noticed that
Hansen was not a glaciologist and he wanted to know the name of at least
one glaciologist who publicly agrees with Hansen's statement that the
sea level will rise by more than one meter in the next century. Hansen
couldn't name one which he uses as a proof that there is "scientific
reticence". Because there is no one who publicly agrees with him,
it follows that scientists are reticent and their predictions of catastrophes
are therefore huge underestimates. (03/27/07)

Al
Gore's "nine Inconvenient Untruths" - By Sally Peck -
Al Gore's environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth contains nine
key scientific errors, a High Court judge ruled yesterday.
Watch the trailer for An Inconvenient Truth
The judge declined to ban the Academy Award-winning film from British
schools, but ruled that it can only be shown with guidance notes to
prevent political indoctrination.
In the documentary, directed by Davis Guggenheim, the former US vice
president and environmental activist calls on people to fight global
warming because "humanity is sitting on a ticking time bomb".
But Judge Michael Burton ruled yesterday that errors had arisen "in
the context of alarmism and exaggeration" in order to support Mr
Gore's thesis on global warming.
His criticism followed an unsuccessful attempt by Stewart Dimmock, a
Kent school governor, to block the Government's plan to screen the documentary
in more than 3,500 secondary schools in England and Wales.
The father of two claimed An Inconvenient Truth included "serious
scientific inaccuracies, political propaganda and sentimental mush".
The film's distributor, Paramount, warns in its synopsis of the film:
"If the vast majority of the world's scientists are right, we have
just ten years to avert a major catastrophe that could send our entire
planet into a tail-spin of epic destruction involving extreme weather,
floods, droughts, epidemics and killer heat waves beyond anything we
have ever experienced."
But the judge ruled that the "apocalyptic vision" presented
in the film was politically partisan and thus not an impartial scientific
analysis of climate change.
It is, he ruled, a "political film".
The nine alleged errors in the film:
Mr Gore claims that a sea-level rise of up to 20 feet would
be caused by melting of either West Antarctica or Greenland "in
the near future". The judge said: "This is distinctly
alarmist and part of Mr Gore's "wake-up call". He agreed that
if Greenland melted it would release this amount of water - "but
only after, and over, millennia"."The Armageddon scenario
he predicts, insofar as it suggests that sea level rises of seven metres
might occur in the immediate future, is not in line with the scientific
consensus."
The film claims that low-lying inhabited Pacific atolls "are
being inundated because of anthropogenic global warming" but the
judge ruled there was no evidence of any evacuation having yet happened.
The documentary speaks of global warming "shutting down
the Ocean Conveyor" - the process by which the Gulf Stream is carried
over the North Atlantic to western Europe. Citing the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the judge said that it was "very
unlikely" that the Ocean Conveyor, also known as the Meridional
Overturning Circulation, would shut down in the future, though it might
slow down.
Mr Gore claims that two graphs, one plotting a rise in C02 and
the other the rise in temperature over a period of 650,000 years, showed
"an exact fit". The judge said that, although there
was general scientific agreement that there was a connection, "the
two graphs do not establish what Mr Gore asserts".
Mr Gore says the disappearance of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro was
directly attributable to global warming, but the judge ruled
that it scientists have not established that the recession of snow on
Mt Kilimanjaro is primarily attributable to human-induced climate change.
The film contends that the drying up of Lake Chad is a prime
example of a catastrophic result of global warming but the judge
said there was insufficient evidence, and that "it is apparently
considered to be far more likely to result from other factors, such
as population increase and over-grazing, and regional climate variability."
Mr Gore blames Hurricane Katrina and the consequent devastation
in New Orleans on global warming, but the judge ruled there was
"insufficient evidence to show that".
Mr Gore cites a scientific study that shows, for the first time,
that polar bears were being found after drowning from "swimming
long distances - up to 60 miles - to find the ice" The judge
said: "The only scientific study that either side before me
can find is one which indicates that four polar bears have recently
been found drowned because of a storm."That was not to say there
might not in future be drowning-related deaths of bears if the trend
of regression of pack ice continued - "but it plainly does not
support Mr Gore's description".
Mr Gore said that coral reefs all over the world were being
bleached because of global warming and other factors. Again citing the
IPCC, the judge agreed that, if temperatures were to rise by
1-3 degrees centigrade, there would be increased coral bleaching and
mortality, unless the coral could adapt. However, he ruled that separating
the impacts of stresses due to climate change from other stresses, such
as over-fishing, and pollution was difficult.
A Government spokesman said he would not make any further comment on
the case today. (10/10/07)
Inconvenient Hypocrisy
The
following is TRUE according to Snopes.com
:
Check out the descriptions of the two houses below and see if you can
figure out which one belongs to an environmentalist...
HOUSE # 1:
A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas.
Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated
by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the
average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity
and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone
(which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes
more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house
is not in a northern or Midwestern "snow belt," either. It's
in the South.
HOUSE # 2:
Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university,
this house incorporates every "green" feature current home
construction can provide. The house contains only 4,000 square feet
(4 bedrooms) and is nestled on arid high prairie in the American southwest.
A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground
water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually
67 degrees F.) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The
system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes
25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system.
Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon
underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes
into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected
water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs
native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape.
This one is in the South also.
HOUSE # 1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of Nashville,Tennessee.
It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al
Gore.
HOUSE # 2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford,
Texas. Also known as "the Texas White House," it is the private
residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush

Climate
Change: Fabricating the Numbers - George C. Landrith - Al Gore has
been flying around the globe to tell anyone who will listen that ten
of the hottest years in history came in the last eleven years. Gore
says the earth has a fever and that we need big government to shovel
medicine down our throats to reduce that fever. Only one problem --
Al Gore has his facts wrong!
NASA has quietly released temperature figures for the last 127 years
(since 1880). Interestingly enough, the hottest year on record was 1934.
And the 1930s hold the record as the hottest decade with four of the
ten hottest years. Five of the hottest years were before the Japanese
attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. Six of the hottest years were before
Elvis Presley's first song hit the radio airwaves in 1954. Seven of
the hottest years according to NASA were before the end of the first
Gulf War in 1991 -- before most Americans had even heard of Bill Clinton.
Gore and his climate change enthusiasts have claimed at different times
that the hottest year on record was either 2005 or 1998. Neither is
correct. The hottest year occurred more than 72 years ago. Only three
of the ten hottest years have occurred in the last 11 years. Where did
Al Gore come up with ten? The answer is that he made it up -- like so
much else in his fictional movie, "An Inconvenient Truth,"
he takes great liberties with the facts.
The truth is the world's climate was warmer during the Medieval Warm
Period (800-1300 A.D.) than it is now. Interestingly enough, the world's
climate has been even warmer in earlier periods. Al Gore won't talk
about this.
One of the main problems with the global warming enthusiasts' approach
to climate and their claims that the Earth has a fever is that they
assume the Earth has a constant climate. Yet, history shows this is
simply not the case. The Earth's climate changes all the time. Since
the end of the Little Ice Age in the early 19th Century, the Earth's
climate has generally warmed. But even during this generalized warming
trend, the climate has not been uniform. During the 1920s and 1930s
there was a strong warming trend. During the 1940s and 1970s there was
a cooling trend. In fact, many of those now claiming the world has a
fever warned in the 1970s that another ice age was coming. Continued.

celebrities who are hectoring everyone else on the planet. (05/04/07)
Al
Gore Global Warming Snafu: How Green Was My Palace? - By Froma Harrop
- Can one be big and green? Environmentalists have long pondered whether
you can stick solar panels on a battleship of a house and still claim
to be the planet's friend. Revelations that Al Gore's manse in Nashville,
Tenn., uses 10 times the energy of the average American home have goosed
this ongoing debate. How unfortunate that the Paul Revere of global
warming - the man who gallops across America to warn of the coming environmental
disaster - spends $500 a month to heat his pool alone. (05/03/07)
Meat Mongers
If Al Gore really cared about global warming, he wouldn't eat
meat. A U.N. Report says
almost one fifth of global warming emissions come from livestock. That's
more emissions than from all of the world's transportation combined.
So that means the most significant way one can reduce his carbon footprint,
is to become a vegetarian. In fact, one single beef eater, like Al Gore,
going vegetarian would reduce more greenhouse gasses than 25 Americans
trading in their SUV's
for Priuses. So the next time one of these pompous Prius driving
greenies preaches their global warming bullshit, tell them to shove
that Prius up their pooper as soon as they're done shoving that pizza
down their piehole.
Killer
cow emissions - Livestock are a leading source of greenhouse gases.
It's a silent but deadly source of greenhouse gases that contributes
more to global warming than the entire world transportation sector,
yet politicians almost never discuss it, and environmental lobbyists
and other green activist groups seem unaware of its existence.
That may be because it's tough to take cow flatulence seriously. But
livestock emissions are no joke.
Most of the national debate about global warming centers on carbon dioxide,
the world's most abundant greenhouse gas, and its major sources -- fossil
fuels. Seldom mentioned is that cows and other ruminants, such as sheep
and goats, are walking gas factories that take in fodder and put out
methane and nitrous oxide, two greenhouse gases that are far more efficient
at trapping heat than carbon dioxide. Methane, with 21 times the warming
potential of CO2, comes from both ends of a cow, but mostly the front.
Frat boys have nothing on bovines, as it's estimated that a single cow
can belch out anywhere from 25 to 130 gallons of methane a day. (10/15/07)
Global
warming overkill - JAY AMBROSE - First thing we do, let's kill all
the cows, because the globe is warming, catastrophe is headed our way,
and the worldwide cattle industry is largely responsible, a far worse
peril to climate stability than SUVs and, for that matter, all the cars,
trucks, planes and other modes of transportation in glorious combination.
Data about the world's 1.5 billion cattle and other livestock generating
18 percent of the greenhouse gases released in the atmosphere comes
from a 400-page U.N. report that just might make Al Gore squirm when
he speaks in Denver in October. An animal rights group -- People for
the Ethical Treatment of Animals -- plans to protest his eating of meat
in contradiction to the crusade he's been waging. How's
that for poetic justice! [...] So, no, let's don't kill the
cows, and let's don't get carried away with Gore-style global warming
hype. We ought to keep studying the question and, for a variety
of reasons, explore alternatives to oil, rely more on nuclear energy,
find ways to clean up emissions from burning coal and more -- but let's
avoid endangering extremes on behalf of conjectures that are far from
settled science. (09/14/07)
Global
Warming and ... Cow Farts - By Ken Taylor - Yes, you read the title
right. A study released this week in London claims that the release
of methane gas, (cow farts), from grazing cows is a contributing factor
to Global Warming ! Now of course cows have been grazing and farting
for centuries but now they contribute to Global Warming. The study also
is calling for the reduction of the consumption of red meat which will
reduce the need for cows, (you know the old Capitalist supply and demand
thing), which in turn will reduce methane gas,(cow farts), released
into the atmosphere. The study also states that men because of a
greater consumption of red meat contribute more to Global Warming than
women because of their release of methane gas. Yeah, you guessed it....man
farts. So gentleman remember the next time you enjoy that hamburger
or steak you are a contributor to the, "Global Warming Crisis."
Personally I plan on sitting down to a big T-Bone, enjoying every juicy
bite, thanking God for the cow who contributed to Global Warming while
grazing and getting fat producing my T-Bone. If after finishing my delicious
meal I too happen to contribute to Global Warming...please...ah...excuse
me! Ken Taylor http://theliberalslies.blogspot.com

Eating
Less Meat May Slow Climate Change - By MARIA CHENG - LONDON (AP)
-- Eating less meat could help slow global warming by reducing the number
of livestock and thereby decreasing the amount of methane flatulence
from the animals, scientists said on Thursday. In a special energy and
health series of the medical journal The Lancet, experts said people
should eat fewer steaks and hamburgers. Reducing global red meat consumption
by 10 percent, they said, would cut the gases emitted by cows, sheep
and goats that contribute to global warming. "We are at a significant
tipping point," said Geri Brewster, a nutritionist at Northern
Westchester Hospital in New York, who was not connected to the study.
"If people knew that they were threatening the environment by
eating more meat, they might think twice before ordering a burger,"
Brewster said. You're right. Make mine
a double burger...with cheese! (09/12/07)
Trying
to Connect the Dinner Plate to Climate Change - By CLAUDIA H. DEUTSCH
- EVER since "An Inconvenient Truth," Al Gore has been the
darling of environmentalists, but that movie hardly endeared him to
the animal rights folks. According to them, the most inconvenient truth
of all is that raising animals for meat contributes more to global warming
than all the sport utility vehicles combined. (08/29/07)
Ignoring
the meat of the global warming issue - By NEIL REYNOLDS - We all
emit greenhouse gases simply by breathing - one kilogram of carbon dioxide
a day, on average, per person. Since there are six billion of us, we
collectively emit more than two trillion kilograms of carbon dioxide
a year. Scientists don't hold these emissions against us. What public
policy options, after all, exist? Breath control? All animals emit greenhouse
gases and by comparison, humans are relatively restrained respirators.
The planet's livestock animals alone, for example, breathe out three
billion tonnes of CO{-2} a year. Livestock, indeed, emit more GHG into
the atmosphere than all of the cars, freight trucks, railways, airplanes
and container ships in the entire world. (08/01/07)

Links Beef Production To Global Warming - Japanese scientists have
concluded that beef production typically contributes more to global
warming than cars do. A study commissioned by the National Institute
of Livestock and Grassland Science in Tsukuba, Japan, and published
in the Animal Science Journal, found that producing 2.2 pounds of beef
generates more carbon dioxide than an average car does every 160 miles.

Save
the planet with a vegetarian diet - By Patrice Green - Most people
are neglecting one of the most important steps toward stopping global
warming: adopting a vegetarian diet. Americans need to know that what
we eat has a huge impact on the environment - and changing our diet
can make a difference. Animal agriculture, a major source of water pollution
and deforestation, has become one of the biggest culprits in global
warming. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
released a report this year showing that farmed animals are a top contributor
to today's serious environmental problems, including greenhouse gases.
The report found that livestock produced 35 percent to 40 percent of
all methane emissions (which have 23 times the global warming potential
of carbon dioxide), 65 percent of nitrous oxide (which is 320 times
as warming as carbon dioxide) and 64 percent of ammonia, which contributes
to acid rain. (07/19/07)
Gore
Gorges on Overfished Sea Bass - By Pam Meister - Here's yet another
addition to the annals of the "do as I say crowd." The rehearsal
dinner for Al Gore's youngest daughter's wedding last week featured,
among other items, Chilean sea bass for 75. Sounds yummy! Unfortunately,
Chilean sea bass is considered to be a threatened species, although
not yet technically endangered: Not only that, but as this particular
fish is found nowhere near Beverly Hills, where the wedding was held,
I'm guessing it was flown in. How much carbon was spewed into the air
so that Gore's guests could dine on one of the most sought-after fish
in the sea? I'm guessing the busy Gore hasn't had time to read the book
promoted by Live Earth organizers called the Global Warming Survival
Handbook, which urges us to eat locally. (07/18/07)
UK:
Methane-belching cows add to global warming - BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhuanet)
-- Finding a way to help cows belch less can help reduce global warming,
a United Kingdom scientist said Monday. Michael Abberton, a scientist
at the UK-based Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research, noted
the average dairy cow belches out about 100 to 200 liters of methane
each day. He said diet changes are a key potential factor in reducing
this greenhouse gas. "There is a common misperception about how
methane gets into the atmosphere," he said. "It is actually
through belching rather than the other end." (07/10/07)

York City - Greenwich Village, N.Y. -- You can definitely smell

research that might happen right here in the Village. (07/01/07)
"Fight
Global Warming, Give Up Meat" - By Kevin McCandless, Correspondent

a broader strategy to fight climate change. In a message sent earlier
this year to a vegetarian lobbying group, the Environment Agency --
a statutory body set up under a 1995 law -- said it was considering
ways to deal with global warming, one of which was to encourage people
to eat less meat. (06/12/07)

Nightly News Joins Newsweek in Smearing Global Warming 'Deniers'
- By Brent Baker - Only days after Newsweek was embarrassed when its
own columnist, Robert Samuelson, excoriated the magazine for a "fundamentally
misleading" and "highly contrived" cover story meant
to defame the global warming "denial machine," Wednesday's
NBC Nightly News aired an equally distorted story which smeared "deniers,"
a term no doubt meant to conjure a similarity to dishonorable Holocaust
deniers. Reporter Anne Thompson began her crusading piece with "In
Denial" on screen over video of the Cato Institute's Patrick
Michaels. She fretted about "interest groups fueled by powerful
companies, including oil giant ExxonMobil." Citing the far-left
Union of Concerned Scientists, she highlighted their claim that "ExxonMobil
gave almost $16 million over seven years to denier groups, including
the Competitive Enterprise Institute." But as Marc Morano, of the
minority staff of the Senate's Committee on Environment and Public Works,
disclosed in a posting, "proponents of man-made global warming
have been funded to the tune of $50 BILLION in the last decade or so,"
not even counting the impact of one-sided media reporting, "while

should stop 'denying' that humans are warming the planet and instead
figure out how to use global warming to 'peel off' 1 percent of the
vote in the 2008 presidential election. Manzi claims that this strategy
could represent a 'principled stand' for a 'clever candidate.' But Manzi's
strategy, in fact, represents the snatching of defeat from the jaws

political value. (06/29/07)

Inconvenient
propagandist: How Al Gore distorts facts - By Simon Basseyn - If
only the title of Al Gore's iconic global warming documentary, "An
Inconvenient Truth," was the only misleading thing about it. On
Oct. 8, the British High Court, following an appeal by a vexed parent,
blocked the government's decision to distribute the film to every British
secondary school. The court ruled that the partisan, ideologically charged
film is deceptive in at least 11 aspects.
By law, any teacher who wishes to present the documentary in a classroom
in Britain must not only identify the specious "truths" to
students, but also preface the film with a disclaimer that it is a political
work promoting only one side of the debate. Should any instructor fail
to do so, he or she would be in breach of the Education Act of 1996
and guilty of political indoctrination.
Essentially, England's highest authority, akin to our Supreme Court,
is defining the movie as propaganda, no different than the fabrications
spread by any other extreme, radical group in history.
Propaganda is defined as a "manipulation of information to influence
public opinion ... often containing misleading statements and lies.
Propagandists emphasize the elements of information that support their
position and de-emphasize or exclude those that do not." (10/16/07)

Laurie David's Inconvenient Truth...
Laurie
David: Blaming kids for global warming - By Holly Fretwell - The
media are full of stories about global warming. Hurricanes, we are told,
are stronger and more prevalent due to global warming. Summers are warmer
as a result of global warming. We are lead to believe that there is
scientific consensus global warming is human caused.
This is scary stuff. As if that is not enough, there are people out
there trying to convince your children they are bad people because they
contribute to global warming. Every time they ride in a car, use a computer
or take a bath, they are bringing the Earth closer to its demise, they
are told.
"The Down-to-Earth-Guide to Global Warming," a new book for
kids co-authored by Laurie David, producer of the Al Gore movie "An
Inconvenient Truth," tells this story in all its cartoon glory.
On first glance the book is beautiful. It is full of color and kid appeal.
The problem is the book is also cartoonish in the way it plays with
reality. Big errors are glossed over as fact.
For example, in her efforts to show kids that they are the cause of
global warming, David explains the correlation between atmospheric carbon
dioxide (CO2) levels and temperature change as measured by ice cores
drilled in the Antarctic. So far, this is using the science of the day.
Few scientists would argue with the correlation; the two seem to consistently
move together over time. The question is one of causation.. (10/12/07)

Release: NZ Centre For Political Debate - Al Gore's Oscar Award Should
be Rescinded - Today Dr Muriel Newman, Director of the New Zealand
Centre for Political Research, has written to the President of the Academy
Awards, requesting that the Oscar presented to Al Gore for the Best
Documentary film, "An Inconvenient Truth", be rescinded.
"With the release of the British High Court judgement overnight
that found that 'An Inconvenient Truth' was littered with nine inconvenient
untruths, it is clear that Al Gore embellished the truth to create dramatic
effect" (see
this).
"Given that the Oscar Award was presented in the documentary category
and not the drama category, the only appropriate action now is for the
Academy to rescind the Award as it was clearly inappropriately classed
as a documentary.
The truth, as inconvenient as it is to Al Gore, is that his so-called
documentary contained critical distortions that are quite contrary to
the principles of good documentary journalism. Good documentaries should
be factually correct. Clearly this documentary is not.
This situation is not unlike that confronting sports bodies, when their
sports 'stars' are found to be drug cheats. In such cases, the sportsmen
and women are stripped of their medals and titles, with the next-place
getter elevated. While this is an extremely unpleasant duty, it is necessary
if the integrity of competitive sport is to be protected.
Just this week Olympic gold medal winner Marion Jones has been stripped
of her titles and medals.
If the integrity of the Academy Awards is to remain intact, is wholly
appropriate that Al Gore be stripped of his 'Best Documentary' film
Oscar.
If the Academy wishes to acknowledge the work of people like Al Gore
they should form a new category of film called 'Political Drama'. That's
how 'An Inconvenient Truth' should be categorised", Dr Newman said.

Deserves Nobel Prize for Propaganda, Warming Skeptics Say - By Randy
Hall, CNSNews.com Staff Writer/Editor - (CNSNews.com) - Critics of Al
Gore believe that the former vice president should not receive a Nobel
Prize for his efforts regarding global warming - including his film
"An Inconvenient Truth" - but should perhaps get an award
for his efforts as a climate change propagandist.
"The real 'inconvenient truth' is that Gore seems to have intentionally
omitted it from his movie," Steve Milloy, publisher of JunkScience.com,
charged in a news release on Thursday. Instead, the film presented "false
facts" and major inaccuracies that fit the Democrat's personal
agenda, he said.
Milloy pointed to a ruling
last week in a British court that "An Inconvenient Truth"
contains at least nine material falsehoods and can be shown to students
only if it is identified as containing "partisan political views"
that promote only one side of the global warming argument.
"It is plainly, as witnessed by the fact that it received an Oscar
this year for best documentary film, a powerful, dramatically presented
and highly professionally produced film," Judge Michael Burton
said in his ruling... (10/12/07)
Judge:
Gore Film Puffs Up Global Warming - By Michael F. Haverluck, CBNNews.com
- A British judge ruled that many of the claims made about global warming
in Al Gore's Oscar-winning documentary on the environment lack scientific
proof.
The ruling came after a concerned school official sought the court's
permission not to show the biased account to students.
Stewart Dimmock, a part-time member on a school governing board, brought
his objection before the court, arguing that the Gore documentary presented
false information and a biased view.
Dimmock said he was fighting to provide a learning environment "free
from bias and political spin," calling on the court to ban its
presentation to students... (10/12/07)

Inaccuracies
in Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth - The decision by the government
to distribute Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth has been the subject
of a legal action by New Party member Stewart Dimmock. Although a full
ruling has yet to be given, the Court found that the film was misleading
in 11 respects and that the Guidance Notes drafted by the Education
Secretary's advisors served only to exacerbate the political propaganda
in the film.
In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their
Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that:
1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument.
2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may
be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of
political indoctrination.
3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention
of school children.
The inaccuracies are:
The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global
warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is
not correct.
The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2
causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that
the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind
the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that
this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had
to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off
events to global warming.
The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused
by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was
not the case.
The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due
to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the
study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly
violent storm.
The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing
Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a
scientific impossibility.
The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef
bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this
claim.
The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing
sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will
not melt for millennia.
The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence
was that it is in fact increasing.
The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement
of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected
to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is
no such threat of massive migration.
The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of
certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to
substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false
claim. (10/09/07)
Big
media shows bias on climate issue - By Dick Little - I know this
is getting old. I keep writing about scientists who challenge the global
warming theory. I do that because the mainstream media's assertion that
you and I are responsible is definitely debatable. Reporters ignore
legitimate scientists who say the way we live and our machines are not
the cause.
The mainstream press is caught up in, "global warming hysteria,"
just like Hollywood and government officials. There are literally hundreds
of legitimate scientists who say, "We don't know," or that
it's a "myth." I believe you are entitled to both sides, so
I write about scientists who challenge the theory to balance what the
mainstream media fails to print. (09/11/07)
Sequel
to Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" Announced: "The
Path to Survival" - By Lynn Davidson - You knew it was coming.
It was only a matter of time. Al Gore is working on a sequel to his
2006 eco-ganda film "An Inconvenient Truth," which will be
called "The Path to Survival" and released on April 22, 2008,
otherwise known as Earth Day. Global warming "deniers' may begin
thinking of it as "An Inconvenient Truth 2: Non-Electric Boogaloo."
But based on a September
5 AP article, it's not what you expect. It isn't even a film. It
won't even be a hardback. Publisher Rodale Books said it will be released
as a paperback original that is "(p)art-scientific manual, part
expose, part visionary call for a new planet-wide political movement"
and will offer "a visionary blueprint for the changes we should
make as a world community." (09/06/07)

'Artic
Tale': Global warming goes family friendly - By Andrew C. Revkin
- NEW YORK: There is something unnerving about watching a polar bear
stalk across floating sea ice in the Arctic and doing so from the frigid
waters directly beneath the bear, the world's largest four-legged predator.
Overhead, through ice so thin that it is transparent, plate-size paws
set down, one after the other, as the half-ton animal pursues its prey.
Gripping moments like this abound in "Arctic Tale," a new
film exploring challenges facing polar bears and walruses, two familiar
denizens of the icy, but warming, seas at the top of the world. But
"Arctic Tale" is not a typical addition to a lengthening line
of somber documentaries on dangerous or endangered wildlife. Sure
it is. (07/23/07)

Al
Gore's An Inconvenient Truth: political posturing and the Democratic
Party - By Joe Kay - Al Gore's documentary on global warming, An
Inconvenient Truth, is intended to serve one essential purpose: bolstering
the environmental and supposedly liberal credentials of the Democratic
Party and the former US vice president himself. Its aim, therefore,
is not primarily to treat the very real environmental problems that
it in part lays bare, but to create a new mechanism for ensuring that
these problems cannot find a serious solution. From a stylistic or artistic
point of view, An Inconvenient Truth is very poor. The backbone of the
film consists of a slide show presented by Gore, the 2000 Democratic
Party presidential nominee. The slide show, staged as though Gore were
giving a lecture before what would appear to be a very carefully selected
audience, is interspersed with various strained attempts at humor, animated
skits, flashbacks of Gore's life and experiences and more detailed descriptions
of certain environmental issues. (06/15/06)

Indoctrination of Children
Below is the outrageuos indoctrination
from the land of fruits and nuts as illustrated by the letters of sixth-graders
to The
Heartland Institute.
Letters
from Sixth Grade Students Reveal Global Warming Indoctrination
Written By: Maureen Martin
Published In: Environment News
Publication Date: May 1, 2008
Publisher: The
Heartland Institute
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you doubt teachers across the country are trying to brainwash schoolchildren
with global warming alarmism, take a look inside the sixth grade classroom
of teacher Michael Steria at David A. Brown Middle School in Wildomar,
California.
Twenty-five sixth graders teamed up to write eight letters to The Heartland
Institute describing what they had been taught about global warming.
Steria sent the letters to the institute in March.
(The letters themselves are posted here.)
The students said they learned about global warming by reading 10 articles
about it. None of the articles, however, was about the science of global
warming. Many described terrifying consequences that supposedly will
result, convincing the students all living things--including all human
beings--will be dead in 10 years.
Steria’s Teachings
Global warming “means that if we don’t fix the climate, everything
will be destroyed and we won’t be able to survive,” two students
wrote. Others found their global warming lessons similarly frightening
(all transcriptions are as the students wrote and sent them, uncorrected):
“I think your fools for denying G.W. you know it could kill us all
& you’re just adding to it. I want you to help stop G.W. not increase
it.”
“We are going to tell you about global warming. I don’t care if
you don’t want to read, but I’m making you read it you horrible
people.”
“We feel that it is wrong what you are doing. We know that you know
that global warming is NOT we repeat NOT a myth, And we think it is
selfish that you would take money over yours and your peers lives.”
“We feel upset because you are making Global Warming worse instead
of helping it. We know that almost half of the country knows that G.W.
is a crisis. We know that you could help the environment with the $800,000
you have.”
“We feel that they are destroying our planet by saying G.W. is not
a crisis. You think GW is not a crisis but it is; you know deep down
that it’s a real thing that’s happening. Everyone has a part in
helping GW, and you’re making worse.”
“I do not think that what you are doing is right because you are telling
people that global warming is not a crisis. If this is not a crisis,
how come floods have occurred in asia, Mexico, and India. Plus, how
can you explain why the glacier glaciers are melting. they can’t melt
themselves, because they are in the coldest region in the world.”
“Air pollution shrinks fetus size, 31 states target global warming,
World must fix Climate in 10 years-UNDP, National disasters have quadrupled
in two decades, and Global Warming Denier Group funded by Big Oil Hosting
Climate Change Denial conference.”
Off-Topic Articles
The students say they read 10 articles about global warming; their
letters describe and identify seven of them.
Three of the articles have nothing to do with global warming or greenhouse
gases. Two are dire predictions from non-scientists at the United Nations
disaster relief agency, the U.N. Development Programme, and nongovernmental
organizations engaged in disaster aid. One article relates state efforts
at monitoring greenhouse gases.
Ad Hominem Attacks
The last article is an ad hominem attack on a small percentage of Heartland’s
funding sources.
Responding to these false claims, Heartland Institute President Joseph
Bast said, “Donations from energy companies have never amounted to
more than 5 percent of Heartland’s budget in any year."
Heartland receives more money from individuals than corporations, and
far more money from energy consumers than energy producers. Any bias
due to funding source would clearly cut against energy producers, Bast
noted.
Nevertheless, several students reprimanded Heartland for its activities.
One said:
“I am very unhappy with your disgracing actions to the world, because
you guys and woman are trying to hide the facts about Global warming
so you can make more money. Well you guys aren’t going to fool anybody
except yourself. The reason is because if you were to look at a picture
of Glacier National Park 50 years ago, you would see that there is less
ice now then there was fifty years ago.”
Unjustified Certainty
Particularly troubling about the students’ letters, in light of the
principles outlined in the official Science Framework for California
Public Schools, Kindergarten through Grade Twelve, by the California
State Board of Education (2004), is the children’s utter certainty
that they know everything there is to know about global warming, that
there is nothing left to learn.
One wrote, “We’ve read article about global warming. And we know
all the facts.”
Another said:
“Natural disasters have quadrupled in 20 years, 53 bird species face
extinction, World must fix climate in 10 years, Air pollution shrinks
fetus size. THIS IS CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING!!!”

UPDATE: Holly Fretwell comments on this story:
Teachers
Indoctrinate Kids about Global Warming - (PressMediaWire) Los Angeles,
CA (March 28, 2008) -- A shocking news report has revealed how public
school teachers are indoctrinating kids about global warming, and that's
disturbing to Holly Fretwell, natural resources allocationexpert and
author of The
Sky's NOT Falling: Why It's OK To Chill About Global Warming (ISBN
0976726947, Kids Ahead, for ages 8-up, September 2007). Says Fretwell,
"Kids are getting anearful at school about global warming, and
too much of that information ismisleading or just plain wrong."
Letters sent from a school in Wildomar, CA to the Heartland Institute
as reported in The
American Chronicle provide a perfect example. Heartland recently
sponsored a conference attended by scientists and economists skeptical
of the UN's scientifically questionable pronouncements on global warming.
Apparently this exercise in free speech was too much for 6th grade teacher
Michael Steria. Notes Fretwell, herself a teacher and mother of two,
"The kids wrote angry letters to Heartland based on 10 articles
they read. It appears that none of those articles dealt with the science
of global warming." (03/28/08)
Global
warming fanatics indoctrinate school children - By Tony Phyrillas
- If you're a concerned parent, you should fight for your child. Be
prepared to confront your local school board if it forces students to
jump on the climate change bandwagon.
Earlier this week, The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review examined the growing
and dangerous trend of forcing public school children to worship at
the altar of global warming hysteria.
"A seemingly harmless bill in the California State Assembly --
mandating that "climate change" be among the science topics
taught to all California public school students -- has ominous implications
nationwide," the newspaper says.
California has always been the start of most looney tune concepts, but
how La La Land goes, so goes the rest of the country.
If California, which is the nation's largest purchaser of textbooks,
forces publishers to include global warming as part of the science curriculum,
children all over the U.S. will be force-fed distortions pushed by left-wing
radicals like Al Gore. (02/20/08)

Focus
On Global Warming: High school students lead the way - BY CYMBRE
FOSTER, Special to the Record-Eagle - Sixteen-year-old Jack Kerby-Miller
was so concerned about the effects of global warming on the planet that
he decided to do something to stop it.
With participation from a team of other students, Kerby-Miller organized
Glen Lake School's participation in Focus the Nation on Wednesday and
Thursday.
"The idea of Focus the Nation is to have a series of nationwide
symposia composed of more than 1,000 schools, colleges, churches and
other civic organizations that meet on one day, to come up with solutions
and create resolutions toward changes that are needed to stop global
warming," said the Glen Lake School sophomore, who initiated his
school's role as host of the event for the community.
Billed as the largest teach-in in U.S. history, Focus the Nation is
preparing millions of students to become leaders in the challenge to
reduce global warming. It is estimated that some 1,400 schools and over
a million students are involved to date, said Kerby-Miller, who lives
in Maple City. (01/29/08) How much does anyone
want to bet that that "million students" number is bullshit.

NYT:
Climate Talk's Cancellation Splits a Town - CHOTEAU, Mont. -- School
authorities' cancellation of a talk that a Nobel laureate climate researcher
was to have given to high school students has deeply divided this small
farming and ranching town at the base of the east side of the Rocky
Mountains.
The scholar, Steven W. Running, a professor of ecology at the University
of Montana, was scheduled to speak to about 130 students here last Thursday
about his career and the global changes occurring because of the earth's
warming.
Dr. Running was a lead author of a global warming report by the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change, the 400-member United Nations body that shared
last year's Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore. But
when some residents complained that his presentation here would be one-sided
because no opposing view would be offered, the superintendent of Choteau
School District No. 1, Kevin St. John, canceled it.
Dr. Running was surprised. Really?
"Disbelief was the primary reaction," he said in a telephone
interview. "I've never been canceled before. But it was almost
comical. I had a pretty candid discussion with the superintendent and
the school board, and they said there were some conservative citizens
who didn't want me to speak." Conservative?
citizens? You mean rational parents that don't want their children indoctrinated!

Senator Inhofe on Climate propaganda to Kids:
Hollywood activist Leonardo DiCaprio decided to toss objective scientific
truth out the window in his new scarefest "The 11th Hour."
DiCaprio refused to interview any scientists who disagreed with his
dire vision of the future of the Earth. In fact, his film reportedly
features physicist Stephen Hawking making the unchallenged assertion
that "the worst-case scenario is that Earth would become like its
sister planet, Venus, with a temperature of 250 [degrees] centigrade."
I guess these "worst-case scenario's" pass for science in
Hollywood these days. It also fits perfectly with DiCaprio's stated
purpose of the film. DiCaprio said on May 20th of this year: "I
want the public to be very scared by what they see. I want them to see
a very bleak future." < > Children are now the number one
target of the global warming fear campaign. DiCaprio announced his goal
was to recruit young eco-activists to the cause. "We need to get
kids young," DiCaprio said in a September 20 interview with USA
Weekend. Hollywood activist Laurie David, Gore's co-producer of "An
Inconvenient Truth" recently co-authored a children's global warming
book with Cambria Gordon for Scholastic Books titled, The Down-To-Earth
Guide to Global Warming. David has made it clear that her goal is to
influence young minds with her new book when she recently wrote an open
letter to her children stating: "We want you to grow up to be activists."
Apparently, David and other activists are getting frustrated by the
widespread skepticism on climate as reflected in both the U.S. and the
UK according to the latest polls. It appears the alarmists are failing
to convince adults to believe their increasingly shrill and scientifically
unfounded rhetoric, so they have decided kids are an easier sell. <
> And this agenda of indoctrination and fear aimed at children is
having an impact. Nine year old Alyssa Luz-Ricca was quoted in the Washington
Post on April 16, 2007 as saying: "I worry about [global warming]
because I don't want to die." Unfortunately, children are hearing
the scientifically unfounded doomsday message loud and clear. But the
message kids are receiving is not a scientific one, it is a political
message designed to create fear, nervousness and ultimately recruit
them to liberal activism... (10/26/07)

PUPILS
TO FUEL GREEN DEBATE - A Film about one of the hottest topics of
our time is set to make waves in North-east schools.
DVDs of Former US Vice President Al Gore's film on global warming -
An Inconvenient Truth - has been bought by Aberdeenshire Council for
all its schools.
Councillors think the film, which won its creator a Nobel Peace prize,
will help children understand the climate crisis facing the planet.
Gore shares the award with the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change for his campaign to educate the world on the dangers of global
warming.
But days before the prestigious accolade was awarded an English High
Court judge ruled the film was created in an "alarmist and exaggerated"
context.
Mr Justice Barton ruled the government can only send a copy of An Inconvenient
Truth to English schools if the film's alleged "nine scientific
errors" are flagged up to teachers.
He said Gore's predicted sea level rise of up to 23ft (7m) "in
the near future" would actually only "occur over millennia".
Other errors included the claim that Hurricane Katrina, the evaporation
of most of Lake Chad and the melting of the snows of the Kilimanjaro
were all the result of global warming.
But Aberdeenshire council leader Anne Robertson said: "It will
be appropriate to take the court ruling into account.
"The film is going to all schools but teachers can adapt the work
around it. Climate change is something that will affect future generations
so the more we can do to educate kids now, the better."
And an Aberdeenshire council spokesman said: "It was recognised
before the court ruling that it is not appropriate to put forward the
DVD in its entirety without explaining the background to pupils."
City council leader Kate Dean watched the film at The Belmont Cinema
along with youngsters from Walker Road, Mile End School, Cults Academy
and Causewayend School.
She said: "It's obviously useful as a tool to spark debate, even
at primary school age.
"The youngsters aren't just being shown the film in isolation,
there would also be discussion in the class."
But History and religious and moral education teacher Stewart Whyte
said: "I would hope that when the film is sent out that guidance
is coming from the local authority."
The Aboyne Academy teacher said it could be a good teaching aid although
he would be "very concerned" if it was used inappropriately.
A study by Cambridge University found that primary children are already
scared about climate change.
Fears about global warming ranked alongside tests and traffic accidents
as some of the under-11's biggest stresses.
Aberdeenshire mum, Sharon Travis, 43, from Kineff, whose children Sharon,
15, Ryan, 14, attend Mackie Academy, wanted to see the film first for
herself.
She said: "If they are going to show something in school parents
should be able to see it beforehand.
"Children need to learn about recycling and how to live an eco-friendly
life - but I don't think shock tactics are the best way to go about
things. Kids are very impressionable and they can get worried easily."

Out to Fight Global Warming, One Kid at a Time - SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)
-- The San Francisco Department of the Environment's latest effort to
combat global warming focuses on children.
The Department teaches kids in more than 85 city schools that they can
easily make a difference in the fight against climate change. The hope
is that children will take the information home and encourage changes
in their household.
According to the Department's Tamar Hurwitz, youth are taking the message
to heart. "Through simple actions like taking the bus more and
composting and turning off the computer when you're not using it, these
are actions that really do translate into meaningful change when we
all do them together and kids get excited by that," she said. (10/05/07)

UK
Court : Schools Must Warn of Bias in 'An Inconvenient Truth' - By
Lynn Davidson - Conveniently, the American media is largely ignoring
a significant statement from a UK High Court judge who said Al Gore's
"An Inconvenient Truth" promotes "partisan political
views" and the schools should treat it as such.
As a result the British government was forced to rewrite their website
and their "guidance" and will need to issue a warning before
showing the film.
As
NewsBusters reported, truck driver, part-time school official and
father of two Stewart Dimmock brought a High Court action to ban the
film from UK schools, claiming it is "unfit for schools" because
it contains scientific inaccuracies, "sentimental mush"and
is politically biased.
The movie was distributed to more than 3500 schools for children aged
11 to 14-year-olds in "Climate Change Packs." (10/05/07)
And more would-be indoctrination from the
Progressive-U mush heads...
GLOBAL
WARMING...WHO'S RESPONSIBILITY IS IT? - A topic that I've just started
researching but am very interested in after seeing the ex-Vice President's
speach on Oprah - yes, Oprah!
I always new that it was up to us as individuals to be good stuarts
to our earth but, It was very interesting to know how in depth that
goes. It's not just "don't litter" as we were taught in school.
It goes much further than that.
Who's responsibility is it to teach up about global warming and the
steps we can take to protect our earth? I think elementary school would
be a grand place to start.
What do you think? Please respond with what you know about global warming,
any ideas you have about simple ways for individuals to help... What
do I think? I think public schools have as much responsibility to teach
my kid about Bigfoot, Santa Clause, and Creationism as they do the CO2
Boogyman. (09/22/07)

Sky's Not Falling!" is the balanced alternative to Scholastic's
fear-inducing global warming kids' book. Debuting the same day as

kids indoctrinated by has-been politicians and Hollywood stars.
"The

Dueling
Kid's Books Clash Over Global Warming - World Ahead Media (WebWire)
- Los Angeles, CA (Sept. 21, 2007) -- Laurie David, former talent scout
and self-proclaimed environmental activist, is not content with having
made just one disconcerting mistake when it comes to her new
kids book about global warming, she has made two. So says the publisher
of a book designed to counter David's specious claims about the environment,
called "The
Sky's NOT Falling: Why It's OK to Chill about Global Warming"
(Holly Fretwell, Kids Ahead Books, 0-9767269-4-7, for ages 8-12, Sept.
2007).
In a recent post to a left-wing website, David attacks evidence gathered
by the Science and Public Policy Institute (SPPI.com) that exposed a
major error in her book, a graph that mislabels CO2 and temperature
trends in a way that "proves" the producer's shrill, unraveling
beliefs. "The
Sky's Not Falling," on the other hand, has the science right.
In her post David writes: "It turns out one of the illustrations
in the book
was accidentally mislabeled. This has got the gang at the at the Science
and Public Policy Instituted up in arms -- or at least pretending to
be -- no doubt hoping to ride our coattails, create some controversy,
and promote their own new book."
Can you believe the arrogance of this self-rightous bitch?
"First of all," says Eric M. Jackson, CEO of World Ahead Media,"'The
Sky's NOT Falling' is not SPPI's book -- it is a Kids Ahead book.
David is guilty once again of ignoring facts while falsely impugning
SPPI's motives."
Second, the error that SPPI caught is not minor. It is in fact central
to David's argument, asserts "Sky"
author, natural resources policy expert and college professor Holly
Fretwell.
But then, David and her co-author Cambria Gordon are pretty light on
the science when it comes to proving that mankind is causing global
warming, or that the trends we are seeing now are abnormal when compared
to historical cycles. "They are far more interested in indoctrinating
children than they are in educating them," Fretwell notes.
Which is what makes "The
Sky's Not Falling! Why It's OK To Chill About Global Warming"
a breath of fresh air. In "Sky,"
author Fretwell shows kids 8-12 that it's human ingenuity and adaptability
- not a mindless fear of change - that are most likely to guarantee
the Earth a healthy future. Parents who've comforted children upset
by Photoshopped pictures of stranded animals and faux "the-end-is-near"
documentaries will embrace this smartly-written, factual and entertaining
book.
No wealthy Hollywood dilettante, Holly instead brings genuine educational
credentials and practical experience to the environmental debate, giving
kids the straight scoop about global warming -- and the potentially
devastating human and economic consequences of politically motivated
responses to it. She gives a balanced look at a complex issue, offering
a refreshing, accessible combination of science and economics that will
enlighten while it entertains.
"In 'Sky,'
Holly Fretwell shows that human innovation and creativity, combined
with individual choice, will yield better environmental outcomes than
the draconian, self-congratulatory approaches advocated by Al Gore and
his ilk," notes Eric Jackson. "If Laurie David is interested
in seeing a more careful treatment of the facts that she butchered in
her own book, we'll be happy to send her a copy." (09/20/07)

OUTRAGEOUS INDOCTRINATION ALERT!
Lorry
driver in challenge to Gore school film - By Joshua Rozenberg, Legal
Editor - A lorry driver is taking the Government to court over a film
that he believes is biased and shouldn't be shown to children in schools
- "The debate over the science of climate change is well and truly
over." So said David Miliband in February. Mr Miliband, who was
then environment secretary, was responding to a report from the IPCC,
the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. This left the minister
so confident that there was nothing more to say on the matter that he
and Alan Johnson, the then education secretary, announced that they
would be sending a film about climate change to all 3,385 secondary
schools in England. A neutral, objective assessment of the evidence,
perhaps? One that took care to present all sides of the argument so
that pupils could make up their own minds? Not at all: it was Al Gore's
An Inconvenient Truth, described by Mr Johnson as "a powerful message
about the fragility of our planet". Since ministers regarded the
debate as well and truly over, they were "delighted" to send
school children a polemic that took as its central thesis the argument
that climate change - the increase in global temperatures over the past
50 years - was mainly the result of man-made carbon dioxide emissions.
This is indeed the view of the IPCC, and most of the world's climate
scientists. But other people disagree. One of them is Stewart Dimmock,
45, a lorry driver and school governor from Kent. His sons, aged 11
and 14, attend a secondary school in Dover which has presumably received
a copy of Mr Gore's film... (09/20/07)
'Today'
Anchors Push Laurie David's Global Warming for Kids Book - By Geoffrey
Dickens - Environmental activist and An Inconvenient Truth producer
Laurie David received a very warm welcome, from the green-friendly anchors
on the Wednesday "Today" show, when she came on to promote
her children's book, A Down-To-Earth Guide to Global Warming. During
David's interview NBC's Natalie Morales noted that the book's publisher,
Scholastic, was trying to place the book into schools everywhere and
proclaimed: "We hope to see it there." Morales even bragged
that her own son was already being indoctrinated: "They're already
talking and learning about this in school. I mean, my own son already
knows, 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.' You know the three 'R's." (09/19/07)
Alaska
Teachers Indoctrinated with Misleading Global Warming Materials
- By James M. Taylor - Schoolteachers across Alaska are being fed exaggerated
and false global warming alarmist materials to distribute to their students,
thanks to the taxpayer-funded University of Alaska-Fairbanks. This summer,
approximately 60 teachers attended the university's Science Teacher
Education Program, during which they were given global warming propaganda
that has been thoroughly rejected by sound science. (09/17/07)
Will
Media Report Error in Laurie David's Global Warming Children's Book?
- By Noel Sheppard - When climate change activists Sheryl Crow and Laurie
David went on their "Stop Global Warming College Tour" last
spring, media sycophants followed their every move reporting their exploits
on almost a daily basis. With that in mind, if a serious, scientific
error were discovered in the global warming children's book co-authored
by David, shouldn't that be newsworthy as well? (09/13/07)
More deceitful indoctrination of our children!
SPPI
Exposes Fundamental Scientific Error in Laurie David's "Global
Warming" Book for Children - WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A
fundamental scientific error lurks in a book calculated to terrify schoolchildren
about "global warming", Robert Ferguson, SPPI president, announced
today: "The Down-To-Earth Guide to Global Warming",
by Laurie David and Cambria Gordon, is intentionally designed to propagandize
unsuspecting school children who do not have enough knowledge to know
what is being done to them.
A new SPPI
paper briefly examines a cardinal error, found on page 18 of the
David book, where she mousetraps children: "The more the carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere, the higher the temperature climbed. The less
carbon dioxide, the more the temperature fell. You can see this relationship
for yourself by looking at the graph. What makes this graph so amazing
is that by connecting rising CO2 to rising temperature scientists have
discovered the link between greenhouse-gas pollution (sic) and global
warming." The SPPI paper states, in part:
What really makes the David-Gordon graph "amazing"
is that it's egregiously counterfactual. Worse, in order to contrive
a visual representation for their claim that CO2 controls temperature
change, the authors present unsuspecting children with an altered temperature
and CO2 graph that reverses the relationship found in the scientific
literature.
The manipulation is critical because David's central premise posits
that CO2 drives temperature, yet the peer-reviewed literature is unanimous
that CO2 changes have historically followed temperature changes.
Case in point, on page 103 of their book, David cites the work of Siegenthaler
et al. (2005). However, Siegenthaler et al. clearly state the opposite,
that CO2 lags "with respect to the Antarctic temperature over glacial
terminations V to VII are 800, 1600, and 2800 years, respectively, which
are consistent with earlier observations during the last four glacial
cycles."
"Parents and teachers should be concerned enough to demand that
the publisher, Scholastic Books, recall, pulp and correct the error
before mores copies reach innocent children," said Ferguson. (09/13/07)
Indoctrinating
Children With Global Warming TV Shows, Movies and Books - By Warner
Todd Huston - Here are chilling words for any parent to hear: "Hollywood
recruits kids to fight climate change." It isn't every day
that someone admits that they are basically out to indoctrinate children
with an ideological position, but Helen Andrews of Politico.com reports
to us just such an admission from the globaloney forces in Hollywood.
Not only do they intend to brainwash our children (and already are,
for that matter) with their anti-capitalist, anti-growth ideas using
fuzzy animals and cartoonish figures, but they are presenting it as
a "moral" issue and, just as badly, trying to convince our
children that humans aren't any more special than the animals -- because,
you see, kids are "an animal," too. Naturally, these globaloney
pushers imagine there isn't a thing wrong with their actions despite
that they are trying to inculcate political positions on unsuspecting
children, undercutting their parent's ideologies, and undermining the
American way of life. (09/07/07)
Hollywood
recruits kids to fight climate change - By: Helena Andrews - Hit
the sticks, Smokey. Snook - along with Mumble, Nanu and Cody - is the
new furry friend globally warming the hearts and minds of kids across
the country. As Mother Earth stuffs the ballot box in the contest for
pop culture prom queen with successful films like "Happy Feet,"
"Arctic Tale" and "Surf's Up," experts say environmental
issues are following the burn pattern of the forest fire, making this
generation's children more nature-friendly and raising their environmental
awareness. "Children have always been very sensitive to the plight
of animals - way back to 'Bambi,'" explained Dave Walsh, president
of the National Institute on Media and the Family, a research and advocacy
organization based in Minneapolis that studies the impact of media on
children's behavior. (09/05/07)

HEATHER KAYS, HERALD NEWS - HAWTHORNE -- More than 60 parents and children

to attend a program aimed at teaching communities how to become more
environmentally friendly [...] To paint a clear picture of global warming
for the children, Adam covered an inflatable globe with an orange handkerchief
[...] When it came to the subject of global warming, Adam told the audience
that because of quirks in the weather, the polar ice caps are decreasing
in size. "The ice caps are melting because of crazy weather,"
Adam said as he threw the inflatable globe into the air. While describing
how hybrid cars work, Adam said: "The cool thing when you drive
a hybrid car powered by vegetable oil is it smells like french fries.
Three women on diets chased us for miles. It was wicked cool."

Kids
urged to take state's global warming challenge - Youths and their
families can take action at home to combat global warming by participating
in the New Jersey Global Warming Summer Challenge. The goal of the challenge
- sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Environmental (DEP) Protection
and Liberty Science Center, in cooperation with the Board of Public
Utilities - is to increase understanding of global warming and to have
people commit to reducing energy use at home, according to a press release
from the DEP's communications office. In other
words, the "goal" is to further the indoctrination of our
children into the global warming alarmist religion. (08/16/07)
Scholastic
Accused of Indoctrinating Kids on Global Warming - World Ahead Media
- Los Angeles, CA (Aug. 8, 2007) - Scholastic, the venerable children's
publisher and the U.S. company behind Harry Potter, has published books
for school children for generations. But the publishing company's forthcoming
book on global warming may have crossed the line from information into
manipulation. That's the warning being issued by Eric M. Jackson, president
of World Ahead Media, following the publication of an interview with
Scholastic author Laurie David in Publishers Weekly last week. David,
a Hollywood activist who produced Al Gore's movie "An Inconvenient
Truth," is the co-author of a book entitled "The Down-to-Earth
Guide to Global Warming" that Scholastic is publishing next month.
"In her jaw-dropping interview, Laurie David makes it clear that
her book has been written specifically to indoctrinate children,"
asserts Jackson. Last week Publishers Weekly quoted David as saying,
"Kids also are the number one influence on their parents, so if
you want to reach the parents, go to the kids." (08/08/07)
"Arctic
Tale" "Documentary" Scripted; Tricks Kids Into Worrying
About Global Warming - By Lynn Davidson - Environmentalists are
targeting kids and using deception to get their message out. Anthropogenic
global warming evangelists and wildlife filmmakers, Sarah Robertson
and Adam Ravetch, made the upcoming live action "Arctic Tale"
because as Robertson told the LA Times, "Global warming to a lot
of people is statistics...What we wanted to do was put a face on climate
change." OK, so there's the goal, now how to accomplish it? Adults
ask all of those pesky questions, but children's minds are easier to
mold and manipulate. During the credits, the filmmakers came right out
and showed their cards, using kids to shill for AGW and convince their
parents to change their evil habits. (07/26/07)

Miniature
travelers learn about effects of global warming - By NICOLE GERRING
- Staring at the tall white polar bear, Wesley, Jamilah and Jorge were
astounded. Wesley had seen them at zoos, playing on slides and jumping
for raw fish. But here, on this icy and cold terrain, the bear just
looked frightening. He wasn't fluffy and smiling like polar bears in
Coca Cola's Christmas commercials. The ends of his fur were a mess of
wet, gray tangles. His claws looked sharp and menacing. Before anyone
could make a decision about what to do next, the bear was running toward
them. Feeling even smaller than they already were after being miniaturized
for the firefly ride, the children crouched together, looking to the
fireflies - Lumiere, Noor and Luz - for help. (07/25/07)
Van
Horn High School students take part in global warming project -
I am concerned that increases in global average temperatures are causing
terrible things to happen in many parts of the United States and the
world. Yeah, terrible things! Global
warming's impacts are somewhat hard for people to understand and even
more difficult to adjust to. That's because
the science is inconclusive at best. Everyone is learning
more about global warming every day, and its effects on the planet.
You mean learning that it's a hyped up, overblown
non-issue and it's effects are entirely unknown and unpredictable?

Cabaret
teaches youngsters about global warming - As a playwright, actor,
director, puppeteer and teacher, Wes Sanders, 65, of South Burlington
has spent a lifetime translating serious social and political issues
into entertaining musical theater. His recent work, "Beat the Heat,"
presents the issues around global warming in cabaret-style -- touching
on all of the arguments with humor, songs, dances, even a huge puppet
dinosaur skeleton.. "I want 'Beat the Heat' to be an infusion of
inspiration and energy for people on the cusp of taking action,"
Sanders says, "but taking technical material and making it entertaining
is difficult." The cabaret, directed toward fourth- through sixth-graders,
is intended to be start of an educational discussion about global warming
for teachers and students. This from a guy
who... presided over productions that focused on the nuclear
arms race, the sanctuary movement, and Columbus' discovery of America

Indoctrination: Molding young minds into environmental
zealots...
Students
motivated to fight global warming - By Jospeh P. Kahn, Boston Globe
- AMHERST, N.H. - In recent American history, college students marched
through the Deep South during Freedom Summer or barnstormed New Hampshire
on behalf of anti-establishment candidates such as Eugene McCarthy.
But today, students like Sierra Murdoch, a 19-year-old Middlebury College
junior, and Jennie Hatch, 20, who'll attend Wellesley College this fall,
aren't spending their summer vacations effecting political change. Global
warming is the issue that motivates them instead, driving them to work
long hours for little pay in a state neither one calls home. Hatch and
Murdoch are enlistees in what might be dubbed the post-"Inconvenient
Truth" student movement. Along with their cohorts in Climate Summer
2007, a program dedicated to spreading the gospel of carbon-emission
reduction throughout the Granite State, they burn with the passion that
once fueled the civil-rights and antiwar movements of the 1960s. Gathered
here in Amherst last week for the town's Fourth of July parade, both
cited global warming as the defining issue facing their generation.

will be compelled to learn about global warming as part of the curriculum
under plans being considered by the State Government. The NSW Board
of Studies is reviewing the kindergarten to Year 6 science and technology
syllabus and will look at introducing specific classes on climate change.
The move comes as Australia's leading scientific research body yesterday
called for the issue to be taught in primary schools. (04/26/07)
Now here's a "newsworthy" item.
It's so important they had to get a photographer to write it!
C-G
8th grader rides to fight global warming - GREENWOOD - "We
only have one planet, don't ruin it! Save the world today - get rid
of global warming." That was the message a Greenwood Elementary
Middle School eighth-grader spread during his nine-mile commute to school
Tuesday. Scott O'Dell, 14, wants to stop global warming and he's starting
by changing his own habits. (04/26/07)
Al Gore's
Army Brings Global Warming Propaganda to a Town Near You - By Noel
Sheppard - Be afraid. Be very afraid. Soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore is training
people to give his global warming slide presentation at places like
"schools, Rotary clubs and nursing homes" around the country.
I kid you not. As reported by USA Today: Meet, no, not Al Gore, but
Gary Dunham, 71, a grandfather from Texas who was the first of 1,000
Americans Gore trained to deliver his Oscar-winning An Inconvenient
Truth slide show to schools, Rotary clubs and nursing homes around the
nation. Scared yet? Well, brace yourselves, for it's much worse than
you can imagine: Two weeks ago, the last 150 of this hand-picked crew
arrived here - paying their own way for everything but food - to go
through a two-day seminar starring Gore but effectively led by Dunham
and a few other graduates of the former vice president's global-warming
boot camp. To date, The Climate Project has drawn everyone from Wal-Mart
workers to Cameron Diaz. And though the 1,000 mark has been reached,
"we keep hearing whispers that (Gore) might do more," project
director Jenny Clad says. "I wouldn't call this final." Scary
stuff. Though seemingly a new revelation, Time magazine reported on
this in January... (04/25/07)
The
greening of America's youth - Teens, collegians pick up global warming
banner and run with it - By John Larson, Correspondent NBC News
- LOS ANGELES - It was a demonstration the likes of which haven't been
seen in 40 years - this weekend's national pro environmental statement
called "Step It Up." It's part of a growing number of teens
and college students who are picking up the banner of global warming,
and running with it. (04/24/07)
Global
Warming Survey - A new survey reveals girls are more concerned about
global warming than boys. Stamford-based research group Weekly Reader
Research gives new insight into the youth's attitude towards global
warming. Here are some of the findings: When asked if they have heard
of global warming...95% of children ages 13 to 18 said yes.
When it comes to who is more concerned the survey shows...57% of girls
versus 49% of boys ages 13 to 18. And when asked who is responsible
for solving global warming...39% said big businesses and 30% think it
should be the government. For more information, visit http://www.weeklyreaderresearch.com.

Another "touchy-feely" story...
Kids learning early about global warming - Teachers introduce issue
in elementary grades - By Molly Murray - Kids aren't getting most of
their information about climate change and global warming from their
families or even television, newspapers or magazines. Instead, 36 percent
say they first learned about global warming at school. (04/22/07)

Students Shows Kids Believe More Needs to be Done to Save the Planet
- NEW YORK, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- While recent polls show that American

a survey of more than 1,000 middle school students across the country
found that kids fear global warming more than any of these issues. The
survey was conducted by BrainPOP, a New York based educational provider.

British
Parents Look to Stop Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" from
Airing in Schools - By Noel Sheppard - Better put away those combustibles,
potables, and sharp objects again, sports fans, because a group of British
parents in New Forest, England, are threatening legal action if soon-to-be-Dr.
Al Gore's schlockumentary "An Inconvenient Truth" is aired
in their schools. I kid you not. (04/17/07)
B.C.

Two Post
Takes On Proselytizing In Schools: Global Warming Good, Jesus Bad
- By Tim Graham - The Washington Post produced two very different takes
on Monday in stories about motivating school children to pay attention
to threats looming in their future. First, there was an urgent front-page
story about the need to educate children about the cataclysmic vision
of a world destroyed by global warming - "the atomic bomb of today"
- with absolutely no one skeptical of the almost religious claims of
hellish destruction in the very near future. One campus activist asked:
"What's the use of a college degree when Wall Street is under water?"
Second, in stark contrast, came a story on the front-page of Metro about
selling the religious message of Jesus along with free pizza. But this
article was stuffed with skeptical students who were offended by the
evangelizing - even as they snagged the lunch. "The free food they
like...The praying they don't." (04/16/07)
Climate
Change Scenarios Scare, and Motivate, Kids - By Darragh Johnson
- The boy has drawn, in his third-grade class, a global warming timeline
that is his equivalent of the mushroom cloud. "That's the Earth
now," the 9-year-old says, pointing to a dark shape at the bottom.
"And then," he says, tracing the progressively lighter stripes
across the page, "it's just starting to fade away." (04/16/07)

An
Inconvenient Truth - as seen from 3 kids eyes - With a tear in his
eye, and my son looking scared to death asked, "Mommy, will we
have time to sell our house or will we be washed away in the big flood."
This is the question I was asked as my son watched Al Gore's "An
Inconvenient Truth", winner of this years best documentary feature
at the Academy Awards. My eldest daughter asked as I was tucking her
in bed tonight, "Mom, if I am successful in becoming an astronaut
and I go up in space for a long time, when I return will I still be
able to breathe the air that's left on planet earth and will it smell
awful?" (02/26/07)
An Inconvenient
Truth: Al Gore Can't Give Junk Science Away - By Noel Sheppard -
This is pretty hysterical, folks, and certainly requires all drinking
vessels to be placed at a safe distance from nearby electronic equipment.
Laurie David, the global warming alarmist and spouse of comedian Larry
David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm"), wrote an op-ed published in
Sunday's Washington Post. In it, she stated that the company which produced
Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" wanted to donate 50,000
DVD copies of the schlockumentary to the National Science Teachers Association
so that educators around the country could brainwash America's youth
with Gore's junk science. Thankfully, the NSTA said, "No Thanks":
"In their e-mail rejection, they expressed concern that other 'special
interests' might ask to distribute materials, too; they said they didn't
want to offer 'political' endorsement of the film; and they saw 'little,
if any, benefit to NSTA or its members' in accepting the free DVDs."
Can I get a group "Hallelujah?" (11/26/06)
